The access elements are designed to enhance the production for all audiences. In 2022 we worked with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/hannah-thompson.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof Hannah Thompson<\/a><\/strong>, Disability Scholar and author of the influential blog, Blind Spot; <a href=\"https:\/\/vocaleyes.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VocalEyes<\/a>, UK\u2019s audio description experts; and <strong>Troi Lee<\/strong>, Director of the all-inclusive music organisation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deafrave.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deaf Rave<\/a>. British Sign Language Interpretation by <strong>Sumayya Si-Tayeb<\/strong> was integrated into the role of the Goddess Istar; audio description and notes were voiced by the character Lilt, played by <strong>Sherelle Amah Francis<\/strong>, and available online in advance, with Touch Tours available before each performance. Our aim is to create new access and disability-positive elements in the upscaled project with wheelchair dancing, a Deaf Rave, and innovative technology.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Groundbreaking audio description &#8211; Prof Hannah Thompson<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Didn\u2019t understand the BSL but absolutely loved watching those expressive hands <\/em> <em>and marveling at how sounds such as a drop of water were expressed.<\/em> <em>&#8211; Brighton Fringe audience member<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>There are a number of outstanding elements here to celebrate . . . For accessibility, there is a British Sign Language Interpreter who performs dance as well as communicating the emotional changes of the piece. It speaks to ALL audiences of 16+, their communities and families. With its bisexual heroine of mixed heritage, ensemble cast, creative use of access, and eco-science fantasy setting, ASTRA crosses genres, geographical backgrounds, religion and disability, creating an innovative, multi-media production that speaks to the heart of our times.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The fictional nations of Is-land and Non-Land allow people of all cultural backgrounds to relate to the story\u2019s character and geopolitical conflict.
